The purpose of the Guru Purnima celebration is to turn back and review and see in this last one year how much one has progressed in life. For a seeker, Guru Purnimais a day of significance. It is the day to review one’s progress on the spiritual path and renew one’s determination and focus on the goal. As the full moon rises and sets, tears of gratitude arise and repose into the vastness of one’s own self.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
House of Bhàvanà will be celebrating Guru Purnima, the annual celebration of the lineage of teachers in the Vedic tradition.
Guru Purnima occurrs each year, after solstice on the July full moon, where meditators and yogis all over the world come together to celebrate and honour the Masters of the Vedic lineage. As Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says above, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the past year and to celebrate all the teachers who have enlivened us on our individual paths.
On this evening Puja will be performed (the ceremony of gratitude that you witnessed on the first day of learning meditation) at the culmination of the ceremony you will have an opportunity to offer a flower and a boon. A part of Guru Purnima mythos is that a wish is granted to you in response to your offering of puja on this day. When considering your wish or desire, consider how it will it bring benefit to you but also great benefit for all those around you.
It will be a night of Celebration, Vedic stories, sweet treats and chai.
The invitation is extended to all, friends are welcome.
